Igbo (Ásụ̀sụ́ Ìgbò) is a Niger-Congo language spoken by over 30 million people, primarily in southeastern Nigeria. It is a tonal language with many dialects. Standard Igbo (Igbo izugbe) serves as the literary form.
Igbo has numerous dialects including Onitsha, Owerri, Ngwa, Afikpo, Nsukka, and others. The Common Voice dataset mainly uses Standard Igbo orthography, but recordings reflect various speaker accents and dialects from Nigeria.

Sentences were collected through the Common Voice web platform. Basic filtering for length, profanity, and quality was applied per Mozilla guideline. No major custom processing beyond standard pipeline.
Normalize tone marks if needed -Igbo is tonal but orthography often omits some. Handle dialectal variations carefully. For ASR training, consider diacritic removal in some cases for better performance.
