This collection contains three Huni Kuin narratives recorded in 2025, making them the most recent materials in the dataset. The narratives address ayahuasca, the stingy person, and netebekun. The collection follows a newer annotation scheme than the other materials, with language-coded tiers (TP_Transcription-txt-cbs, TP_Translation-gls-es, TP_Translation-gls-en, TP_Participant-note-cbs/-en) and metadata tiers embedded directly in the ELAN files. It contains 1,877 annotations, with translations into both Spanish and English. Two of the three recordings also include Praat TextGrid files, enabling phonetic analysis in addition to discourse analysis. All three narratives were recorded in Pucallpa, Ucayali, Peru, and narrated by Tomás Pedro (S01). The research team consisted of Alonso Vásquez and Roberto Zariquiey. Transcription and translation were carried out by Roberto Zariquiey Biondi.

The restriction exists because this is material that should circulate with context and accompaniment rather than by open download.

Forbidden Usage
Note on machine learning: this is not a blanket prohibition on ML research. Evaluating and benchmarking existing models on this data is permitted, and so is non-production academic experimentation, provided the model is not deployed, the weights are not released, and the results cite the collection. What requires authorisation is production training and weight release. The reason is that the consent forms signed before approximately 2020 do not mention AI training and cannot reasonably be read as covering it; the communities have not yet been consulted on this point.

Ethical Review
All recordings in this collection were made with the informed consent of the speakers, obtained in the field at the time of recording. Signed consent forms are held by the donor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and are available to the MDC team on request. Speakers are identified by code (S01, S02...) rather than by name, in file names, in the annotation tiers of the ELAN files, and in all accompanying documentation. Contributors are acknowledged collectively in each collection's documentation, without linking any name to any specific recording or code. A small number of individuals appear under their own names because they asked to be credited as authors of the material; this is stated explicitly in the documentation of the collections concerned. Material judged sensitive was withheld from deposit entirely rather than published under restriction. Collections involving funerary practice, medicinal knowledge, ritual knowledge, or extended life histories of identifiable individuals are published under restricted access with individual review of each request. One point remains open and is declared here rather than glossed over: the consent forms signed before approximately 2020 do not mention the use of recordings for training artificial intelligence models. They cannot reasonably be read as covering it. The communities have not yet been consulted on this specific question. Until that consultation takes place, production model training is not authorised, and the licence reflects this.

Recent Huni Kuin narrative with a modern annotation scheme, Spanish and English translation, and Praat TextGrids. Intended for discourse and phonetic research, and as a model for how future documentation in this deposit should be prepared.

Tres narrativas huni kuin grabadas en 2025, las más recientes del conjunto. Los temas son la ayahuasca, el mezquino y netebekun.
La anotación de esta colección sigue un esquema distinto y más moderno que el resto: tiers
etiquetados con el código de lengua (TP_Transcription-txt-cbs, TP_Translation-gls-es,
TP_Translation-gls-en, TP_Participant-note-cbs/-en) y tiers de metadatos incorporados al
propio ELAN. Hay 1 877 anotaciones, con traducción tanto al castellano como al inglés.
Dos de las tres grabaciones tienen además TextGrid de Praat, lo que permite análisis fonético además del análisis de discurso.

Como en iskonawa, ‹e› representa la vocal central alta /ɨ/, no una vocal media anterior. Y el sistema distingue dos sibilantes retrofleja y postalveolar, ‹x› /ʂ/ frente a ‹sh› /ʃ/, contraste habitual en pano que conviene no colapsar al buscar sobre las transcripciones.

Lugar y variedad. El huni kuin se habla a ambos lados de la frontera peruano-brasileña y
el código cbs cubre las dos. Estas grabaciones son de Pucallpa, región Ucayali, Perú, de
2025, de modo que documentan la variedad peruana.
Un solo hablante. Las tres grabaciones son de la misma persona, identificada como S01.
Eso hace que esta colección sea, en la práctica, el retrato lingüístico de un individuo, lo
que refuerza el criterio de acceso restringido.
Créditos. Las tres narrativas de esta colección son de Tomás Pedro, identificado como
S01 en los nombres de archivo y en los tiers de los ELAN.
Aquí no se aplica la seudonimización efectiva del resto del depósito, y conviene decirlo abiertamente en lugar de sostener una ficción: al haber un solo hablante, cualquier mención en los créditos equivale a vincular el nombre con el código. Se optó por acreditarlo, con su autorización, porque transmitir conocimiento ritual sin que conste quién lo transmitió sería una pérdida y no una protección.
El acceso restringido de nivel 3 sigue vigente y es aquí la salvaguarda real: no la seudonimización, sino el hecho de que cada descarga se revisa individualmente.
